Susan A. Rech, MD

Susan A. Rech, MD, FACOG

Dr. Rech graduated from Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania in 1979. She went to medical school at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Temple University Hospital, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1988. She is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and completed her most recent recertification in 2012. She is a fellow in the American College of OB/GYN. She is a member of the American Medical Society and the Medical Society of New York. She has been listed in the Who's Who of American Women

Dr. Rech joined Associates in OB/GYN, P.C. in 1988 and has been the senior partner in the practice since 2001. She has served as chief of the OB/GYN department at CVPH and on the CVPHMC Board of Directors. She excels in high risk obstetrics and has a special interest in operative laparoscopy. She has had speciality training and now operates with the DaVinci Robot at CVPH Medical Center. Dr. Rech, whose hobbies include gardening, biking, skiing and singing, is married to Dr. Marc Sarnow. They have 3 children, Kyle, Nathaniel and Lily. .

 

Eve M. Burns, DO

Eve M. Burns, DO

Dr. Burns is originally from Saranac Lake, NY. She earned a bachelor of Science degree from Brandeis University in Waltham, MA in 2001. She then worked in research at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston, MA and then Trudeau Institute in Saranac Lake.

She went on to medical school at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, NY from 2004-2008. She then completed a residency program in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, NY from 2008-2012. Dr. Burns joined the Associates in Obstetrics & Gynocology, PC in 2012. She is Board Certified in Obstetrics & Gynocology. Dr. Burns is thrilled to be back in the area to enjoy her many outdoor interests including running, cycling skiing and hiking.

Nurse Practitioners

Mary Anne Carter, CNP

Mary Anne Carter, CNP

Mary Anne, a certified Nurse Practitioner, hails from Plattsburgh, New York. She graduated from Keuka College in 1977 with a B.S. in Nursing, and completed the Adult Health Nurse Practitioner Program at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, New York, in 1982. After working in private practice in Burlington, Vermont, and at the CVPH Medical Center’s Emergency Department, she joined Associates in OB/GYN in 1994. Mary Anne resides in Plattsburgh with her husband, Tim, and their two daughters, Jenelle and Sarah. Above all else, she enjoys time with her family.

 

Susan Kier-Merrhiew, CNM, NP

Susan Kier-Merrhiew, CNM, NP

Susan is a Certified Nurse-Midwife and an OB/GYN Nurse Practitioner. After completing the Midwifery Program at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 1981, Susan received an MS in Community Health Nursing from SUNY Binghamton. Susan has extensive experience in Fullscope Midwifery care. She is particularly interested in adolescent health, family planning and prenatal care. Outside of work, Susan enjoys hiking, travel, as well as spending time with her family and friends.

 

Melissa A. Mathurin, WHNP-CKaren B. Case, CNM, NP

Karen B. Case is a Certified Nurse Midwife and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner with long standing ties to the North Country.

She graduated SUNY Plattsburgh in 1971. After spending time as a labor nurse and then the Nurse Manager of the Maternity Unit at CVPH Medical Center, she continued her studies in midwifery graduating in 1994 from Frontier School of Midwifery. She completed her Masters in Nursing from Case Western Reserve in 1996.

Karen has extensive experience in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She enjoys caring for women throughout the life cycle with a focus on menopausal transition.

Karen resides in Plattsburgh with her husband Chris and is an empty nester of Jesse, Anna and Eamon. When not hiking or quilting, you will find her in the garden or walking her boxers.

 

Bridget M. Sarazen, CNM, WHNP

Bridget M. Sarazen, CNM, WHNP

Bridget M. Sarazen, a Certified Nurse Midwife and Women's Health Nurse Practitioner joined The Associates in Obstetrics & Gynecology, PC, in 2010.

She earned her Associates Degree from Morrisville College in 1991 and completed her Bachelor's Degree of Science in Nursing from SUNY Plattsburgh in 1993. She graduated with honors from the University of Cincinnati with a Masters in Nursing/Midwifery and Post Master's as a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner in 2010.

She brings her extensive nursing experience to the practice. Prior to her graduate studies, Bridget worked as a Labor & Delivery Nurse and became a Certified Emergency Nurse working in the Emergency Care Center at CVPH Medical Center.

She has worked as a Nurse Educator for patients with diabetes and was an adjunct faculty member at North Country Community College and Clinton Community College where she was a clinical instructor in obstetrics for the nursing students.

She is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Neonatal Resuscitation. Bridget has a special interest in Women's Health and Wellness, as well as adolescent care.

She is a member of AWHONN, ACNM, ADA, and AADE. She enjoys spending time with special people in her life, especially her two children, Alex and Lindsey, and their dog Ellie. Hobbies include running, skiing and boating.
